Melody is four now — long blonde hair gathered into pigtails, forever slipping loose as she twirls, sings, and tells stories that tumble over one another. When she reached this tender age, still so very little and yet suddenly her own small person, I wanted to mark the moment with something as soft and fleeting as childhood itself. And so, Melody by Pink Phoenix was born: a gentle fragrance created just for her.
Beside her toddles Harlee, eighteen months old, with her little brown curls and that determined, wobbly stride. She follows her big sister into every game and every giggle, the two of them weaving a world made of crayons, cuddles, and whispered secrets. This scent carries both of them in its heart — the big sister on the edge of four, and the baby sister close behind, their days fragrant with rose petals and sunshine.
As their grandmother and the hands behind Pink Phoenix by Amy, I wanted Melody’s fragrance to feel like a love letter she could wear: something tender, natural, and kind to her delicate skin. A quiet companion to her growing-up days, made not for the world at large, but for one small girl and the sister who will always dance in her footsteps.
A Gentle Formula, Chosen With a Grandmother’s Care
Every drop of Melody by Pink Phoenix has been chosen with the same care I would use to hold a small hand crossing the street. This is a fragrance for delicate skin and busy little days, made with essential oils and gentle, naturally minded ingredients rather than harsh synthetics.
Rose hydrosol forms the fragrant base — a soft, floral water that smells like a whisper of petals rather than a cloud of perfume. It lingers close to the skin, tender and comforting, like the memory of a kiss on a child’s forehead.
To this, I add just a trace of sweet orange essential oil, bright and joyful, for a hint of sunshine that is carefully measured and non-phototoxic. It is the scent of giggles in the garden and sticky little fingers reaching for one more slice of orange.
Polysorbate 20 is there quietly in the background, helping everything mingle into a silky, even blend so the fragrance feels like water on the skin, never oily or heavy.
A touch of vegetable glycerine adds a cushiony softness, drawing in moisture so the mist feels kind, not drying, every time it is spritzed.
To protect this gentle formula, I use Leucidal Liquid SF, a naturally derived preservative made from fermented radish root. It works quietly, the way nature intended, keeping Melody’s fragrance fresh and safe, so that what touches a child’s skin is as thoughtful and reassuring as the arms that hold her.
